Policies
(updated January 2025)
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants, staff, and facilitators in our programs and retreats. Our mission is rooted in fostering personal growth, community connection, and healing through nature. Acts of hate or discrimination are fundamentally incompatible with these values.
Our Commitment
We welcome individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. We do not tolerate any form of:
Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.
Harassment, bullying, or intimidation.
Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, or any other characteristic.
Expectations for Participants
Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and empathy.
Engage in open-minded and nonjudgmental dialogue.
Support the co-creation of an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Uphold the group agreements and community standards established at the beginning of each program or retreat.
Zero Tolerance Policy
We reserve the right to remove participants who compromise the safety and integrity of our community, programs and events, and no refunds will be issued in such cases.
A tool in the toolbox, not the whole toolbox.
All of our programs and experiences are for educational and informational purposes only. The information offered and exchanged in this program is for your own personal development, and is made available to you as self-help for your own use. While the facilitators draw on their professional training, background, and expertise in other areas, you acknowledge that the facilitators are supporting you in their role exclusively as a class facilitator only. If you’re looking for formal therapeutic support, we would be happy to connect you with resources.
If we find that your needs exceed our abilities to facilitate the space as intended, we reserve the right to remove you from our programs, events, or community.
Inclusive Experiences
Some of us have met before, some of us will be meeting everyone for the first time. Our trips are about building community and finding new friends. So let's do our best to make sure our conversations are welcoming to everyone.
Phones
Part of what is so special about our Wilderness Wellness Retreats is the fact that we are able to disconnect from the normal distractions and activities of daily life so we can reconnect with ourselves, our fellow retreaters, and the space we occupy. To preserve this we ask that you please not use your phones during the retreat, other than as a camera.
Substances
At Hiking My Feelings, we recognize the importance of plant medicine as a part of holistic wellness, however, our events are alcohol and substance-free unless otherwise noted in the event description.
Know Your Limits
Hiking My Feelings adheres to the Challenge By Choice principles. By joining our programs and retreats, you are choosing to challenge yourself, and we are here to support you in that challenge. In return, we ask that you know your limits and make sure that you are challenging yourself within your stretch zone and not into your panic zone.
Why do your programs cost money?
We do our best to keep our programs and retreats affordable, but the reality is there are a lot of costs associated with facilitating programs and leading an outdoor trip. This includes, but is not limited to: program development costs, permits, camping fees, insurance, gear depreciation, instructor compensation, food (including accommodations for special diets), and more.
Refund Policy
We do not offer refunds on programs, digital products, merchandise, or donations.
Payment Policy:
Payment in full is due upon registration unless the participant is unable to pay at the time of registration and is requesting a scholarship or payment plan
If not paying in full at time of registration, a non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot and the remaining balance will be paid in terms of the agreement made at time of registration.
Retreat Refund Policy:
Due to the variety of retreats we host and co-create, each retreat will have its own refund policy. If you have questions please email hello@hikingmyfeelings.org.
